believe will ever succeed. It will not be needed by 1930 or,
if it were,
it would be cheaper to hire houses in the
village.
(27). Aberdeen Fire Station. Useful but not necessary.
Could easily be postponed.
(28). European Hospital. Wholly unnecessary in my
opinion. It is more wanted now than it will be five years
hence when the New War Memorial Nursing Home should be avail.
able.
(29). Volunteer Defence Corps Headquarters. Small
matters which would be convenient but can be postponed
indefinitely.
(30). Police Station. Will be required but I doubt
whether the site will be available by 1930.
(31) & (32). New Police Stations.
(31). The estimate has now been reduced to $150,000. The necessity for a new station arises in connection with a reley out of the neighbourhood as a result of the removal
of the Sailors' Home and of the growth of the neighbourhood which has made the present building too small. There should
be considerable receipts from the sale of the old site to
set against the expenditure.
(32). Necessary for the adequate policing of this developing district.
(33). Sai Yan Ho Fire Station. This includes a Police
Station and is becoming necessary owing to the development
of the district.
(34). Wanchai Gap Police Station. An absurdly extravagant proposal. Not necessary yet and when it is required should not cost half so much.
(35). Additional Floor to Store in Central Police Store.
A desirable small work.
(36). Extra Floor, Mong Kok Police Station. Ditto.
